"If you have come here to help me, then you are wasting your time. But if you have come here because your liberation is bound up in mine, then let us work together" -Lilla Watson, Aboriginal Activist

About this blog

Here I am in Guatemala, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) in Youth Development. It seemed natural to start a blog about my life as a PCV, both as a personal outlet and a way to keep friends and family informed. Unlike journaling, blogging presented me with the issue of audience: who am I writing to? How do I maintain such a one-sided conversation? I wanted to make this blog more personal that that; I wanted to be able to direct my entries to somebody, regardless if this someone actually reads it or not.

Thus this blog is an experiment of sorts; blending personal and public, allowing me to correspond with those I love and miss in a public forum, while affording me an outlet to reflect on my daily life and experiences living and serving abroad.

This blog will be a mixture of personal entries about my day-to-day life in Guatemala and personal letters written to my dearest friends and family. I welcome your responses!

Many adventures to come...
